If you have an arcade machine that isn't putting out any or clear sound or you have an arcade pcb or game that has partial sound, crackeling sound, only sound effects and no music or any other sound related problems, this tip might help you fix that problem. First things first, check, re-check, and tripple check that the -5v line is hooked up to the JAMMA harness correctly and/or hooked up. For a lot of the arcade boards/pcb's the -5v is an essential part of the sound and without it being connected or being connected to another part on the board you will most likely experience all of the above sound trouble when you hook up an arcade game. This is meant as a trouble shooting tip to help you reduce or eliminate sound issues you may be having with your arcade machine and boards and get you back on track to enjoying the games you love to play

Bridge rectifier is an electronic component which converts an input AC current into a DC current as an output. Electronic devices, and particularly portable electronic devices such as portable computers, cellular phones, and personal digital assistants (PDAs) typically make use of alternating current to direct current adapters (AC adapters) either as a direct source of power, or as a source of power to charge on-board batteries. Bridge rectifiers are used to rectify current output from alternative current sources, such as an alternating current generator. Three-phase bridge rectifiers have been provided for rectifying a three-phase alternating current to convert it to a corresponding direct current. The rectifiers generally comprise a three-phase rectifier circuit including six three-phase bridge-connected diodes and a smoothing capacitor connected between DC output terminals of the rectifier circuit. The six pulse bridge phase controlled rectifier is a widely used type of solid state power converter which is used in industry for converting a three phase ac input voltage to a variable dc voltage. The six pulse bridge phase controlled rectifier uses six thyristors as controllable power devices. Bridge rectifiers for motor vehicle alternators generally include two metal parts used as heat sinks that are electrically insulated from each other. Robert Noyce - Semiconductor Pioneer

Robert Noyce is credited with Jack Kilby for the invention of the integrated circuit and co-founded both Fairchild Semiconductor and Intel. In this 1984 lecture, Robert Noyce reviews the development of the integrated circuit from its infancy in the 1950s to the early-1980s as well as its impact on technology and society. Noyce discusses the innovations in transistors that lead to the creation of the integrated circuit. Next, Robert Noyce talks about the technical challenges of building increasingly more compact and more powerful semiconductors as well as the overall effects of Moore's Law. Finally, Noyce looks ahead to the future of semiconductor development that was uncertain at the time of this lecture, but is now in our past. Robert N. Noyce was born in Burlington, Iowa and grew up in Grinnell, Iowa. A physics major at Grinnell College, he graduated with a PhD in physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1953. William Shockley hired him from Philco Corporation to work at Shockley Semiconductor Laboratories in 1956. With eight other employees he left to found Fairchild Semiconductor Corporation in 1957. As general manager of the Fairchild semiconductor operation and a vice president of Fairchild Camera and Instrument, he presided over a decade of innovation in semiconductor technology including co-invention of the integrated circuit.
